Reports show an alarming trend: even when revenue grows, not everyone is able to make money on it. Many enterprises have finished year with losses, and some with multi-billion dollar losses.

The most difficult situation is at the Kiyzassky open-pit mine. The company’s revenue collapsed from 92 to 10 billion rubles – a drop of almost 90%. Instead of a profit of 1.8 billion, the company received a loss of 12 billion. This is the worst indicator in the sample.

Razrez Bachatsky showed an increase in revenue from 22 to 49 billion rubles – more than doubling. However, this did not save the loss: 1.2 billion minus against 812 million profit a year earlier. That is, the more money passed through the cash register, the deeper the hole turned out to be.

Shakhta Sibirskaya’s revenue also doubled – from 11 to 22 billion rubles. But the loss remained virtually unchanged: 3.1 billion versus 3 billion. The company earns more, but loses the same amount – a strange arithmetic of the crisis.

Resurs LLC looks the best among distressed assets. Revenue remained at 20 billion, and the loss decreased from 1.1 billion to 528 million rubles. The dynamics are positive, but the company is still in the red.

At JSC “UK Sibirskaya” the picture is the opposite: revenue decreased from 22 to 17 billion, and profit fell from 5.4 to 1.3 billion. The drop is almost fourfold.

JSC “ShTK” kept its revenue almost at last year’s level – 8 billion versus 7.8. But profits fell from 1.2 billion to 153 million, that is, by 87%.

A newcomer, Razrez Tesh, registered in 2024, showed revenue of 34 billion rubles and a symbolic profit of 7.2 million. Almost zero.

The overall picture is that the coal sector is experiencing hard times. Even revenue growth often does not protect against losses due to falling world prices, logistics problems and sanctions pressure. This is a signal for the industry: previous models are no longer working, new approaches are needed.

Source: @Coala_russia

Russian coal mining companies have summed up the financial results of last year.
