This event marks the beginning of a large-scale interdisciplinary effort that aims to overturn traditional ideas about the origins of oil and gas.

University Rector Vladimir Litvinenko identified deep metageology as an area where scientific stereotypes are being destroyed. He made a powerful analogy, comparing the current understanding of earthly riches to gazing at a shiny penny while the real treasures of the earth go unnoticed. The modern development of theoretical geology allows us to re-evaluate the huge array of accumulated facts that were previously often ignored.

For example, seismic methods have proven that the Earth is in a crystalline state up to the border with the core. However, this fundamental fact had almost no impact on theories of magma formation. The reluctance to revise outdated postulates persists in world science. A striking example is the suppression of the results of drilling the Swedish Siljan Ring well in the late 1980s, where they were looking for gas of non-biological origin.

Litvinenko identified three key scientific truths that refute the theory of the biological origin of oil confirmed by the Academy of Sciences. Firstly, in the depths of the Earth, the multicomponent composition of oil is in thermodynamic equilibrium, which is not the case in the surface layers. Secondly, the migration of hydrocarbons to the surface is fully explained by the laws of solid state physics. Third, the formation of deposits requires a unique combination of structural and tectonic conditions.

The rector called young scientists join in this promising work. He also noted that it is useful for experienced researchers to return to a “childish” view of things to ask simple questions and destroy scientific myths. Despite the president’s support, approval for deep drilling took nearly five years, highlighting the persistence of bureaucratic barriers. Nevertheless, the project is starting: two ultra-deep wells will be drilled to study the subsoil below the Devonian deposits.

In the near future, criteria will be determined for the participation of scientists in the Russian community of metageologists with access to the international level. At the first seminar, dozens of reports were presented, and it was decided to focus future meetings on certain narrow areas. This opens up new horizons for fundamental science and practical geological exploration.

The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.

 Source: forpost-sz.ru

A scientific seminar dedicated to the deep genesis of hydrocarbons was held at the St. Petersburg Mining University.
