This will help avoid errors in estimating coal reserves and reduce additional costs for additional exploration of deposits.

Kolmar, mining in the South Yakutsk coal basin, has repeatedly encountered discrepancies between the predicted and actual parameters of coal seams. The company notes that actual data on seam thickness, tectonics, hypsometry and ash content of coal often do not coincide with initial calculations. Because of this, it is necessary to allocate additional funds to clarify reserves, which increases development costs deposits.

Large-scale geological exploration work is planned in Yakutia in the coming years. Every year 10–15 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes. However, in order to avoid a repetition of current problems, Colmar proposes to introduce more accurate reconnaissance methods. This will allow companies to receive reliable data from the first stages and minimize risks for investors.

Reliable geological exploration is a key factor for making decisions on new investment projects. Errors in reserve estimates can lead to unnecessary costs and delays in field development. Kolmar, which has licenses to mine more than 1 billion tons of coal, is interested in improving the quality of exploration data for the stable development of the industry.

The Kolmar group unites coal mining, logistics and trading enterprises, providing a full cycle of coal production and supply. The company is developing deposits in the Neryungri region of Yakutia, including the Inaglinsky and Denisovsky mining and processing plants. The annual production volume is 11 million tons of coking coal.

Increasing the accuracy of geological exploration is an important step for the sustainable development of the coal industry in Yakutia and attracting new investments to the region.

The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology

Source: @menteetmalleo

Photo: ysia.ru

The Kolmar coal company turned to the government of Yakutia with the initiative to improve methods geological exploration .
