Perm Polytechnic scientists have created software that will help oil producers <\/a>companies reduce energy costs by up to 5%. The development optimizes the operation of electric centrifugal pump (ESP) installations, which consume a significant portion of energy in the industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Oil production is one of the most energy-intensive industries. Up to 70% of mechanized production in Russia is provided by ESP, but due to non-optimal operating conditions, about 50% of the power is lost. This leads to excessive consumption of electricity and increases costs for companies.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

The development of Perm scientists, called the ESP Periodic, analyzes more than 40 parameters of pump operation, including equipment characteristics and operating modes. The program takes into account both continuous and periodic operation of pumps, which is especially important for wells with low production.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cOur software reduces calculation time from an hour to 15 minutes,\u201d explains Sergey Mishurinskikh, project manager, associate professor at Perm Polytechnic University. \u2014 This allows you to quickly find the optimal settings for your equipment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

The implementation of the program has a double effect: reducing energy costs by up to 5% and reducing the carbon footprint of oil production.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

For large companies such as Rosneft or LUKOIL, even 5% savings mean tens of millions of rubles per year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

The developers plan to create a \u201cboxed\u201d version of the program and attract financing<\/a> through grants. This will allow you to scale the project and make it available to more businesses.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

The new program of Perm scientists is a step towards more efficient and environmentally friendly oil production. Reducing energy consumption not only increases company profits, but also corresponds to global trends towards sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n
