Brazilian President Lula da Silva plans to sign agreements with Russia on uranium, LNG and fertilizers during his visit to Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n

During the visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to Russia on May 8, 2025, the parties will discuss the creation of a joint venture for exploration and production<\/a> uranium. This was reported by the Brazilian publication Exame, citing government sources.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

The main negotiations will concern three areas:\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n

1. Uranium industry \u2013 it is planned to create a joint venture between the Russian company TENEX (part of Rosatom) and the Brazilian N\u00facleo Brasil.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

2. LNG projects – the Brazilian delegation will sign an agreement with NOVATEK for the development of liquefied gas infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

3. Fertilizer production – the parties will discuss the creation of joint ventures in Brazil.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

In February 2025, Rosatom won the tender for uranium enrichment for Brazil, ahead of China’s CNEIC. The contract is valued at $40 million and is important for the development of the country’s nuclear energy.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Brazil ranks 7th in the world in terms of uranium reserves, but researched<\/a> only 26% of its subsoil. This opens up great prospects for cooperation with Russia.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n

Lula da Silva’s visit will strengthen the two countries’ partnership in energy and mining, which could make Brazil a key player in the global uranium market.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
