Arctic Lithium acquired the rights to develop the Polmostundrovskoye deposit at an auction in 2023. According to Rosnedra, the ores of the deposit contain 351.7 thousand tons of Li2O.

It is planned to build a mining and processing plant (GOK) at the field by 2030. The plans include the creation of a crushing and screening complex and a processing plant capable of processing 1 million tons of ore per year and producing 200-240 thousand tons of spodumene concentrate with a lithium oxide content of 6%. This concentrate will then be processed in the Tula region and Krasnoyarsk region.

In addition, another lithium deposit is being developed in the Murmansk region – Kolmozerskoye. Polar Lithium LLC, owned by Rosatom and Norilsk Nickel, plans to launch the first stage of the mining and processing plant in 2026-2027, with processing up to 400 thousand tons of ore per year. The second stage, planned for 2030, will increase capacity to 2 million tons of ore and production of spodumene concentrate to 350 thousand tons per year.

Elbrusmetall-lithium, part of Rostec, also plans to launch a mining and processing plant at the Tastyg deposit in Tyva in 2030. These projects promise to significantly increase lithium production in Russia, which could impact the global market for lithium products.

Source: dprom.online

photo – Istock

Arctic Lithium JSC, a joint venture of TD KHALMEK LLC and KhMZ JSC, begins pilot development of the Polmostundrovskoye deposit in the Murmansk region.
