The Development Corporation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the First Junior Accelerator have agreed to work together to advance gold, silver, and copper exploration in the region.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Its primary objective is to create a comprehensive support system for junior exploration projects. In practical terms, this means that small teams holding exploration licenses will no longer have to navigate financing and project development challenges on their own.

The Development Corporation of Yakutia will act as a coordinating platform, helping establish direct connections between local license holders, service providers, government agencies, and potential investors. At the same time, the First Junior Accelerator will launch a specialized educational program designed to help entrepreneurs structure their projects, prepare financial documentation, and negotiate effectively with investors.

One of the biggest challenges facing junior exploration companies today is the lack of funding and project development expertise. In many cases, companies possess licenses for promising exploration areas but are unable to secure the capital needed for full-scale exploration. As a result, projects are often suspended and prospective properties remain undeveloped. The new initiative is intended to revive such assets and move them toward active development.

Tamara Golovina, Executive Director of the accelerator, noted that discussions have been held with several Russian regions, but Yakutia has become the first to reach concrete agreements and establish a formal partnership framework.

The First Junior Accelerator program has been operating since the summer of 2025. Out of nearly 70 applications received during its first intake, five projects focused on gold, silver, and copper exploration were selected. The program currently covers projects in Khabarovsk Krai, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Irkutsk Region, Magadan Region, and Yamal. Participants receive mentorship, access to industry networks, and resources needed to advance their projects.

The successful model will now be expanded to Yakutia. Local junior exploration companies searching for gold, silver, and copper deposits are expected to gain faster access to financing and opportunities for professional growth. In the long term, the initiative could contribute to new mineral discoveries and strengthen the resource base of Russia’s Far East.

Source: NEDRADV

Image: Development Corporation of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

Small mineral exploration companies in Yakutia will soon gain access to practical support in securing investment and developing professionally structured projects.
