We met yesterday with the GeoConversation team to discuss editorial matters. Why not also congratulate each other on the upcoming holiday? And I put on my Christmas pajamas.
We currently have three articles in progress – about gold, minerals and a controversial moment in the history of the Earth. Already in the new year we will take on big topics about information business in geology and AI in exploration and mining.
But we have one elephant in the room. An obvious media problem. Traffic. More precisely, its absence.
And this is some kind of vicious circle. To have traffic, you need to publish more articles, but GeoConversation’s budget allows you to publish only 2-3 articles per month.
A search engine is like a librarian; upon request, it displays what is popular and most referenced, which means it has authority. And for media, the main traffic is search queries.
And this is what we came up with at the editorial meeting:
- Write regularly in the editorial column;
- Buy advertising in the News section of major media;
- Organize a competition and draw money among those who share a link to the article on social networks;
- Traffic from YouTube, make videos for each article.
Some people definitely won’t rest during the holidays🔥
