The Russian government has approved a new support measure for companies operating in mining industry. Starting from 2026, subsoil users will be able to receive income tax benefits when purchasing domestic mining machinery and equipment.
In the fall of this year, a corresponding order was prepared expanding the list of high-tech equipment made in Russia. The purchase of such equipment now entitles enterprises to tax preferences. The updated list includes equipment for the fuel and energy complex and a wide range of mining machines. We are talking about equipment for underground mining, as well as sorting and separation equipment.
This initiative continues the course towards import substitution in strategically important industries. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the share of foreign products in the mining equipment market has decreased significantly over the past decade – from 54% to 37%. Such progress was made possible thanks to effective cooperation between business and government.
The tax incentive is aimed at further stimulating demand for Russian developments. For subsoil user companies, it is assumed that this means not only a reduction in the fiscal burden, but also an increase in economic sustainability through the use of available domestic equipment.
The new income tax benefit creates favorable conditions for modernizing the equipment fleet of Russian mining companies. This is a practical step that strengthens the country’s technological independence and provides businesses with a real tool for optimizing costs.
