Scientists from St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU) and Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. Tupolev (KAI) have developed a unique device for analyzing gas mixtures. The device combines a plasma detector and a chromatograph, which significantly increases the accuracy of research.
The new device allows for the analysis of gas mixtures with high accuracy, which previously required the use of two separate devices. The chromatograph separates mixtures into components, and a plasma detector based on plasma electron spectroscopy (PLES) analyzes their composition. This is especially useful for studying complex mixtures where the components have similar properties.
Traditional analysis methods often face the problem of signal overlap on the energy scale. The new device solves this problem by adding a time coordinate to the analysis process. This allows gases to be separated and identified more accurately, taking into account both the chemical and physical properties of the substances.
