In 2025, total investments in geological exploration for diamonds will amount to 9 billion rubles. The Ministry of Natural Resources forecasts an increase in resources of more than 157 million carats.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the state will allocate over 2 billion rubles for the search and exploration of new diamond deposits. Last year, as part of the project “Geology. Revival of the Legend”, research began at the Menda-Barylaysky and Lindensky sites in Yakutia. In 2025, work expanded – surveys began in the East Oleneksky and Kelimyarsky areas.
Private investors are also actively involved in the development of the industry. In 2024, their investments in geological exploration amounted to 5.95 billion rubles, which allowed them to increase diamond reserves by 1.248 million carats. The main increase was ensured by additional exploration of the Syuzevskoye deposit in the Perm Territory and placers of the Malaya Kuonamka River in Yakutia. This year, the companies plan to invest 6.9 billion rubles in geological exploration.
There are currently 135 licenses for diamond deposits in Russia, and another 14 are being prepared for development. In 2025, auctions will be held for three promising areas: the Snegurochka and Zapadno-Svetlinsky pipes in the Arkhangelsk region, as well as Tarydaksky in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
Geological exploration remains a key area for Russian diamond mining. The joint efforts of the state and business will help strengthen the country’s position in the global market.
