On the way to Antarctica, polar explorers on the R/V “Akademik Fedorov” crossed paths with the famous Russian traveler Fedor Konyukhov. In the open ocean, they established radio contact, exchanging greetings and wishes for good luck.
The R/V “Akademik Fedorov”, leading an expedition to Antarctica, and the single rowing boat of Fedor Konyukhov met in the vastness of the Southern Ocean. At the moment of crossing the routes, Konyukhov, who was moving on his boat, was in the very center of a force 10 storm, which complicated the conditions of his journey.
According to reports from the expedition team, at that moment they predicted a possible intersection of routes. Despite the stormy weather, both crews continued to move forward, preparing for a possible meeting in the ocean.
A few days later, when the storm subsided a little, the crew of the R/V “Akademik Fedorov” still discovered Fyodor Konyukhov’s boat and successfully established radio contact with the traveler. During the conversation, they exchanged warm words, congratulated each other on overcoming difficulties and wished them good luck in their future travels.
Fyodor Konyukhov, known for his daring and risky travels, continues to move alone, despite the weather difficulties. This incident again emphasizes the resilience and courage of both the polar explorers and Konyukhov himself.
The meeting on the open ocean became a symbol of not only incredible endurance, but also mutual support between the expedition participants. Such moments remind us how important the forces of nature and human solidarity are for travelers, despite vast distances and difficult conditions.
