AGD Diamonds JSC, which still specializes in diamonds, is preparing for its first geological exploration project for gold. The company intends to invest 312 million rubles on the Olovarechensky site in the Onega district of the Arkhangelsk region.
The work includes an extensive program: a comprehensive airborne geophysical survey over an area of 67 square kilometers, geochemical studies with the taking of 2,780 samples, as well as studies along ground routes with a length of 308 kilometers. The plans also include the construction of surface mine workings of 275 meters to remove 355 cubic meters of rock and the drilling of 27 wells for prospecting and assessment work. The total number of samples that will be processed is 8274.
The project is designed to last until July 2031, and the delivery of the report on the work carried out is scheduled for the third quarter of the same year. In addition to the Olovarechensky site, licenses to search for gold were also obtained at the Shuikarechensky site in July last year.
This move expands AGD Diamonds’ portfolio and promises new opportunities for the region’s economy. It is expected that the data obtained will help identify potential gold reserves, which could become a new direction for the development of the mining industry in the Arkhangelsk region.
