At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Gazprom Neft company presented a unique art project “Terrabyte”, dedicated to digital technologies in geological exploration. The project combines science and art, demonstrating how data can help explore the depths Earth.
The project was based on digital models of real oil fields. deposits. With the help of artistic images, viewers can see how seismic exploration, rock analysis and the creation of 3D models of hydrocarbon deposits take place. “Terrabyte” allows you to literally look several kilometers underground, showing how technology reveals the secrets of the geological past.
According to company representatives, the project symbolizes the transition to digital development subsoil Already in 2026, based on it, a multimedia exhibition will be opened at the Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas of Khanty-Mansiysk.
Alexander Dybal, head of the communications department at Gazprom Neft, noted that more than half of the company’s production is already carried out using digital twins. Such technologies allow you to optimize drilling and manage processes remotely.
“Our goal is to become the first digital oil company,” Dybal emphasized. “Terrabyte reflects this direction by showing how data is changing the industry.”
The visual concept of the project was developed by radugadesign studio. Its creative director, Ivan Nefedkin, said that the team worked closely with geologists to create authentic but effective images.
“We turned dry data into vivid visual metaphors,” Nefedkin explained. “This is not just art, but a tool for understanding complex processes.”
Terrabyte demonstrates how digital technology and creativity can work together to solve scientific problems, opening up new opportunities for the oil and gas industry.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology
