Canadian company Pan Global Resources, through its Spanish subsidiaries, has obtained rights to the Salamón gold project in the province of León. The regional Energy and Mines Department deemed its bid the best in the open competition. However, the final decision has not yet taken effect: another bidder has filed an appeal.

Salamón comprises two exploration permits covering a total area of approximately 532 hectares. The site consists of nineteen mining claims and is located along the León Fault — a deep tectonic structure roughly one hundred kilometers long that has historically been known for numerous ore occurrences.

The geographic location is favorable. The project sits thirty kilometers east of Pan Global’s recent high-grade gold discovery at the Cármenes project. The area has a long mining tradition, and the site is served by power, roads, and a rail line.

The asset’s legal status is not yet final. The company has been notified that a competitor has challenged the department’s decision. Final approval of Pan Global’s bid depends on the outcome of the proceedings. The company says it is confident of a favorable result, though it cannot offer guarantees.

Company Background

Pan Global Resources explores for copper deposits, as well as gold and other metals. Its flagship project, Escacena, with the La Romana and Cañada Honda resources, is located in the Iberian Pyrite Belt in southern Spain. The region is considered a top-tier jurisdiction: good infrastructure, clear permitting procedures, and support for copper as a strategic raw material from the European Commission. Its second project is Cármenes, in the north of the country. The company’s team has experience in exploration, discoveries, and mining operations. Pan Global is a member of the UN Global Compact and adheres to its principles.

Salamón expands Pan Global’s Spanish portfolio and strengthens its position along a promising fault zone. If the appeal is rejected, the company will gain another asset in a region with developed infrastructure and mining traditions.
