In the Black Sea, not far from the coast of Sochi, they plan to create Russia’s first artificial island. Its construction could begin as early as 2026. The project, the cost of which will exceed 1 trillion rubles, will be implemented by the First Island Corporation. RIA Novosti Real Estate reports this.

According to the managing director of the company Bulat Shakirov, the preparation of project documentation will be completed in 2025. Then, in 2026, the construction of protective hydraulic structures will begin. These structures will protect the future island from sea waves and strong winds, ensuring the safety and sustainability of the project.

“Before the formation of the island begins, it is necessary to strengthen the water area in order to exclude the influence of natural factors,” Shakirov noted.

The area of the artificial island will be 50 hectares. This will house:

  • hotel complexes;
  • tourist and sports areas;
  • theater and music venues;
  • residential apartments;
  • research center dedicated to the study of the Black Sea.

The total real estate area on the island will be 1.5 million square meters.

Construction is planned to be fully completed by 2031, and the project is expected to pay off within 12 years. The new island is expected to become a landmark for Russian tourism, attracting travelers from all over the country and abroad. Architectural and engineering innovation can change the idea of resort opportunities on the Black Sea coast.

Experts are confident that the unique project will make a significant contribution to the development of the region’s infrastructure and will make Sochi even more attractive for recreation and investment.
