The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation has made changes to the list of jobs with hazardous working conditions, allowing women to occupy the positions of excavator operators, loading machines and operating mining equipment. The new rules will come into force in 2025.
According to the order of the Ministry of Labor, from February 17, 2025 to March 1, 2028, women will be able to officially work as excavator and loading machine operators. They are also allowed to operate self-propelled equipment in open-pit mining operations, including mines, open-pit mines, and mines, as well as participate in the processes of enrichment, agglomeration and briquetting.
In addition, the department has relaxed restrictions on work related to coal crushing. If previously women were completely prohibited from working as coal crushers, now the ban applies only to manual labor during crushing. This means that the use of mechanized methods will no longer limit women’s access to these types of work.
These changes became part of a large-scale revision of the list of professions with hazardous working conditions, where previously there were strict restrictions for women. The Ministry of Labor emphasizes that the new rules are aimed at expanding employment opportunities for women in areas previously inaccessible to them.
The reform of labor legislation, initiated by the Ministry of Labor, opens up new horizons for women in traditionally male professions. This not only expands their career opportunities, but also contributes to a more flexible approach to labor regulation in the modern market. In the coming years, similar changes are expected to encourage greater participation of women in industry and mining.
