Novosibirsk State University (NSU) is introducing VR technologies to train geologists. A virtual reality studio has opened at the university, where students will be able to study deposits and practice skills without risking their lives.
The studio was created on the basis of the Advanced Engineering School (ESE) of NSU. With its help, students will be able to analyze geophysical research data, model geomonitoring systems and study in detail the structure of deposits. VR technologies will make it possible to clearly demonstrate complex processes that are difficult to reproduce in real conditions.
According to Sergei Golovin, head of NIS, in the future they plan to use the VR studio to train the control of drones. These devices are actively used in geological exploration to collect data on hard-to-reach areas.
Using VR in training makes the process safer and more effective. Students gain practical experience without having to travel to dangerous sites. In addition, virtual technologies allow you to quickly master complex disciplines.
NSU continues to introduce innovative methods in education, which makes the training of specialists of higher quality and meets modern requirements.
