Norilsk Nickel presented a development strategy for the Palladium Technology Center in South Africa. At the PGMs Industry Day conference in Johannesburg, the company presented promising projects that can be implemented in key sectors of the African economy.

At the PGMs Industry Day international conference in Johannesburg, Norilsk Nickel presented the development strategy for the Palladium Technology Center. The company announced a number of innovative projects aimed at using palladium in energy, electronics and other areas.

Key areas include collaboration with African scientists, industrialists and startups. In the next five years, it is planned to develop about 100 high-tech products based on palladium and its alloys.

Currently, the Palladium Technology Center is working on more than 25 projects. One of them is the use of palladium coating to improve the efficiency of solar power plants. Other promising developments include improving hydrogen fuel cells and creating cost-effective methods for producing green hydrogen.

Experts are also exploring the possibilities of using palladium in microelectronics. For example, alloys of this metal can reduce the cost of electrically conductive components. In addition, palladium is being considered as an alternative to iridium in the production of OLED displays, which will make them more affordable.

Norilsk Nickel’s initiatives can make a significant contribution to the development of solar and hydrogen energy, electronics and chemical industries in Africa. The company intends to actively develop partnerships with local specialists to introduce advanced palladium technologies.
