Preparations have begun in Siberia for the creation of a powerful computing center for developments in the field of artificial intelligence. The project is being implemented by the Rusal company as part of a new industrial cluster in the Angara-Yenisei region. Completion of construction is scheduled for 2032.
Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu announced plans to create a modern computing center for artificial intelligence in Siberia. This large-scale project will become part of a large industrial cluster, which will be located on an area of more than 3 thousand hectares. The implementation will be carried out by the Rusal company, known for its innovative solutions in the industrial sector.
In addition to the artificial intelligence center, the cluster will include other significant projects. By 2030, it is planned to launch processing of concentrate from the Tastyg deposit with the production of lithium hydroxide. By 2028, a multi-product small-scale chemical plant will be built to create high-purity products needed for high-tech industries.
Preferential conditions are provided for cluster resident companies, including tax preferences and administrative support. The territories will receive the status of special economic zones and scientific and technological centers, which will create favorable conditions for investment and innovative development.
Funding for the project has already been included in the federal budget for 2026. The cluster’s board of trustees will be headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. The creation of a computing center for AI in Siberia will be an important step in the development of Russia’s digital economy and will strengthen the country’s position in the field of artificial intelligence.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
