A digital system has been launched at the Don Mining and Processing Plant, part of the Kazchrome structure. based on artificial intelligence. The new development analyzes the quality of ore and equipment operating parameters in real time. Operators are prompted when they need to adjust the process to avoid metal waste.
The results were not long in coming. Chromium recovery increased from 9.89 to 10.33%. Average losses decreased from 10.9 to 8.5%. The share of tailings with a high content of valuable components decreased from 20.1 to 16.9%. All this is a direct consequence of the work of algorithms that help to carry out the process more accurately and more stable.
The economic effect of implementation was estimated at approximately 123 million tenge per year. At the same time, the quality of the finished concentrate remained at the same level, that is, the benefit was achieved not due to simplified technology, but due to smarter management.
The system does not replace a person, but works as an advisor. It analyzes the data stream that the operator is physically unable to process, and suggests optimal solutions. As a result, the plant receives more metal from the same ore, spending fewer resources on processing waste rock.
The experience of Donskoy GOK shows that artificial intelligence in mining, it moves from the category of experimental technologies to the category of working tools. And the very first industrial result gives a noticeable increase in efficiency.
