Rosnedra announced auctions for six new gas blocks in Arctic zone Yakutia. Activities are planned for the second quarter of 2026 and include rights to geological exploration and subsequent hydrocarbon production.
The main list of areas covers the promising territories of the Leno-Vilyui and Leno-Tunguska oil and gas provinces. The auction list included five significant sites:
- Sobolokh-Mayanskaya
- Undulyungskaya
- East Linden
- Munskaya
- Zhiganskaya
These zones were identified based on the results of large-scale geological and geophysical surveys and demonstrate high potential for discovering new deposits.
The strategic location of the sites near the Lena River creates additional advantages for the development. The use of the waterway is consistent with plans for the development of the Trans-Arctic Transport Corridor, which will significantly simplify logistics and reduce the costs of transporting equipment and resources.
Currently, leading mining companies are successfully operating in the region. Gazprom is developing the gas sector, and Surgutneftegaz is focused on oil projects. Their experience confirms the investment attractiveness and production potential of the Yakut subsoil.
The planned auctions open up new opportunities for the development of the Arctic energy complex. The development of promising areas will strengthen Russia’s position in the global hydrocarbon market and will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Far Eastern region.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
