Implementation of a large-scale project for deep processing of strategically important rare earth minerals has begun in Krasnoyarsk. metals. The launch of a specialized cluster is scheduled for 2026, and it will become a key part of the Mendeleev Valley innovative scientific and technological center. This complex will allow organizing a full cycle of processing valuable raw materials, which is extremely important for the technological independence of the country.

The initiative to create the center belongs to the Siberian Federal university and RKhTU im. D. I. Mendeleev. The main task of the “Mendeleev Valley” is to lay a powerful scientific base for the future cluster. Its activities will cover the entire Angara-Yenisei region and will be aimed at the comprehensive processing of not only non-ferrous, but also metals critical for industry.

The structure of the innovation center will be distributed. The Moscow site will be located at the Russian Chemical Technical University, and the Krasnoyarsk site will combine the resources of Siberian Federal University and the Institute of Chemistry of the SB RAS. The technology park partner of the project will appear in Minusinsk. They plan to open an international competence center dedicated to critical metals at the Siberian Federal University. There will also be special laboratories that carry out orders from government departments and private industrial companies.

The active stage of the project will start in 2026. By December 1, leading universities must submit an updated concept for the development of the center, following the instructions of the Russian government. From the beginning of next year, universities will begin training engineering personnel who will work in the high-tech industries of the Mendeleev Valley. This project opens up new prospects for the development of science and industry in Siberia.
