The head of the Ministry of Energy, Sergei Tsivilev, stated the need for accelerated development of information technologies in the fuel and energy complex. He presented his appeal at an industry conference for IT specialists oil and gas sectors.
The minister emphasized that artificial intelligence and digitalization require rapid development rates. This is necessary for an adequate response to modern global challenges. In the official Energy Strategy of Russia until 2050, the digital transformation of the fuel and energy complex is assigned one of the key roles. Active growth of the IT sector is an important condition for strengthening the leading position of the Russian economy in the world.
Tsivilev drew attention to the scale of the challenges facing the domestic energy sector. He outlined the goal of ensuring that the Russian fuel and energy complex not only equals, but also exceeds in efficiency similar complexes in other countries. IT technologies are of particular importance in the oil and gas industry, especially when developing hard-to-recover reserves. Drilling technologies have become more complicated: if previously work was carried out at a depth of two kilometers, now they reach four kilometers. Creating digital twins is becoming an essential tool for working effectively in such conditions.
The minister also noted the high international interest in Russian IT solutions for the fuel and energy sector, including the area of cybersecurity. Foreign partners are active in studying domestic experience.
Special attention was paid to training new engineering and IT personnel. To achieve this, it is important to develop specialized engineering classes in schools that will help educate a new generation of specialists. Tsivilev separately appealed to businesses with an appeal to actively recruit specialists returning from the Northern Military District zone. He emphasized their professionalism, dedication and important inner attitude, which allows them to achieve high results.
