A national standard has been approved in Russia GOST R 72316-2025, which establishes requirements for georadar methods for examining road subgrades. The document comes into force on December 1, 2025.
The new standard regulates the use of ground penetrating radar for operational control during the construction of subgrades. It also defines procedures for examining natural and artificial foundations during the construction, reconstruction and repair of public roads.
The georadar method, which GOST describes, is a non-destructive diagnostic method. Its operating principle is based on the emission of short electromagnetic pulses and registration of signals reflected from the boundaries of media with different electrophysical properties. This allows you to obtain accurate data on the condition of soils and road structures.
The introduction of a single standard will ensure the unification of quality control methods at all stages of road work. The document establishes clear requirements for conducting surveys, which helps to increase the accuracy and reliability of the results.
The adoption of GOST R 72316-2025 marks an important step in the standardization of quality control of highways. Establishing uniform requirements for GPR inspection will allow a systematic approach to assessing the condition of the roadbed at all stages of its construction and operation.
