Joint projects between Norilsk Nickel and IT developer Reksoft are bringing measurable results. Implemented solutions are already helping to save hundreds of millions of rubles a year and making production processes safer.
One of the key achievements was the Metallurgist’s Digital Assistant. This system, awarded at the Global CIO competition, is the first in the world to use UV spectrometry technology for inspection in non-ferrous metallurgy. Its use at the plant in Norilsk made it possible to reduce copper losses by 0.5–1%, which gives an annual economic effect of 150–200 million rubles.
Other innovations are also working. At Norilsk Nickel’s processing plants, a system based on artificial intelligence analyzes and automatically adjusts the flotation process in real time. This makes production more stable and predictable.
To improve safety in underground mines, the company is testing a robotic rock breaker. He performs dangerous work instead of people in high-risk areas.
A large-scale project is also underway to create the MAGMA digital ecosystem – a set of software products for data-based decision-making in the mining industry. It is being developed by Norilsk Nickel, Reksoft and other partners. The first solutions of this line are already beginning to be implemented at the Komsomolsky mine.
The cooperation between an industrial giant and an IT company clearly demonstrates how digital technologies transform traditional industries. The implementation of such solutions leads to significant savings, increased safety and creates new standards for the entire metallurgical industry.
