Placers started working in Magadan. The Drazhnik enterprise put into operation two dredges in the village of Kholodny. This happened earlier than usual due to favorable weather conditions and the readiness of the equipment. By the end of the month, it is planned to launch seven more dredges, and then the dredge fleet will operate at full capacity.
Dredge looks like a floating factory that moves along artificial reservoirs created directly on placer deposits. Dozens of buckets scoop up gold-bearing sand from the bottom, after which the soil is washed on board and the precious metal is extracted. The development depth reaches 20 meters. This technology makes it possible to effectively mine placers without disturbing the natural landscape.
Last year was successful for everyone Magadan region. At the end of 2025, the region produced 55.5 tons of gold, which is 2.5% more than a year earlier. Governor Sergei Nosov noted that the region continues to attract investors to develop new areas.
The early launch of dredges in the Susumansky district is a good signal for the entire industry. The sooner the flushing season begins, the more metal will be extracted before frost. For Kolyma, where winter lasts almost six months, every additional day of work is worth its weight in gold.
