Junior Exploration Projects Step Into the Spotlight at First Investor Day in Khabarovsk

Khabarovsk hosted an open discussion between owners of early-stage mineral exploration projects and the professional mining community. Five teams presented their assets publicly for the first time to potential investors, mining companies, and industry experts. Four of the five projects focus on placer gold, while the fifth is exploring for a copper-porphyry system.

The event was held as part of the Placer Gold of Russia forum and the MINEX Far East Mining Club program. The pitch session featured teams behind the Magloy, Parsam, Pilda, and Bereg projects in Khabarovsk Krai, as well as the Burgag project in the Magadan Region. Both the geographic focus and project profiles were closely aligned with the forum’s agenda.

After the short presentations, the most valuable part of the event began: direct professional discussion. Participants raised questions about geology, grades, budgets, and the feasibility of the proposed development plans. Experts expressed skepticism about some aspects while supporting others. For early-stage projects, this kind of professional scrutiny can be more valuable than formal applause.

Following the meeting, organizers proposed publishing the project presentations on the Khabarovsk Krai investment portal, giving a broader pool of investors access to the materials.

The organizers emphasized that the participating companies did not go through a formal accelerator program. However, as part of the preparation for the event, the First Junior Accelerator conducted an initial selection and expert review and helped the teams prepare their presentations. It represents the first practical step in a new approach to working with junior exploration companies—from initial screening to public investor presentations.

Taking projects into the open is a bold move for teams accustomed to confidential negotiations. Yet greater transparency can help build trust in the junior exploration sector as a whole. The format now has a future, with the next meeting scheduled to take place at MINEX in Moscow.
