National atomic company Kazatomprom will hold a repeat absentee shareholder vote on a transaction with JSC Uranium One Group, which is controlled by Russia’s state corporation Rosatom. The vote is scheduled for November 25 to December 9, 2026. In early October, shareholders did not approve the deal: holders of 88.34% of shares abstained.
According to the company, technical adjustments have been made to the draft contract. The commercial terms and other material parameters remain unchanged and, Kazatomprom says, are in line with market conditions. The company does not disclose what exactly was changed.
A repeat vote is a standard procedure when approval or a quorum is not obtained the first time. The abstention of almost 88% of voting shares effectively blocked the decision, although formally it is not a rejection.
In parallel, shareholders previously approved the sale of uranium concentrate to China’s State Nuclear Uranium Resource Development Company Limited, a subsidiary of SPIC.
The fate of the Rosatom deal will be decided in December. If shareholders support the sale this time, Kazatomprom will cement its partnership with the Russian side, while the parallel agreement with China’s SPIC will point to a course of diversifying sales of uranium products.
