Nordgold has announced plans to conduct comprehensive geological exploration work and environmental monitoring at the Sardana polymetallic deposit in Yakutia. The project is designed for 2025-2026 and will be an important stage in preparation for development deposits.
The main goal of geological exploration is to clarify the structure of ore bodies and collect data for a feasibility study (TES). The program will include:
- Lidar topography to create a digital terrain model.
- Core drilling with repeated study of wells.
- Trenching and sampling using core and furrow methods.
These methods will provide accurate data on ore reserves and quality, which is critical for further investment decisions.
In parallel with geological exploration, Nordgold will conduct environmental monitoring. Specialists will assess the condition:
- Soils in the field area.
- Water resources of the rivers Hamna, Allah Yun, Kurung Dukat and Orto Dukat.
- Bottom sediments to analyze possible impacts on the ecosystem.
This stage of work is aimed at minimizing environmental risks and compliance with environmental regulations.
Preparation of the feasibility study is planned for 2026-2027. Nordgold’s license for the deposit is valid until 2030-2036, which gives the company enough time to implement the project.
Sardana is a promising polymetallic deposit acquired by Nordgold last year. Its development can make a significant contribution to the economy of the region and strengthen the company’s position in the market.
Nordgold’s research at Sardana is an important step towards developing the deposit taking into account modern environmental standards. The results of the work will become the basis for making strategic decisions in the coming years.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
