The Northern Mines company is preparing for a new stage in the development of its key asset. The holding’s subsidiary, Omsukchan Mining and Geological Company, is planning large-scale geological exploration work at the Juliet gold deposit in the Magadan region. This will not only expand the raw material base, but also lay the foundation for the long-term growth of the project.
The research program will focus on promising areas of the Engterinsky ore field, including its flanks and deep horizons. This approach will help to obtain a more complete picture of the potential of the subsoil. An important step for the implementation of these plans was the renewal of the license for geological exploration and production. The subsoil use right, which was supposed to end at the end of 2024, has now been extended until December 31, 2030.
“Conducting geological exploration is an investment in the future of the enterprise. Updating the mineral resource base is a key factor in ensuring the sustainable development of our project,” the company emphasized.
The Juliet deposit, located in the Omsukchan district, is the main asset of OMGGC. The mine here was launched back in 2001. According to the latest data, the deposit’s reserves in categories C1 and C2 are estimated at almost 2 tons of gold and 14.3 tons of silver. The area of the license area exceeds 100 square kilometers, which opens up significant opportunities for resource growth.
The new strategy aims to make the most of this potential. An in-depth study of the subsoil will make it possible to more accurately estimate the volume of underlying ores and plan further production. This is especially important in conditions where a company seeks to optimize its activities. Despite revenue growth in 2024, the company is faced with an increase in production costs, which requires a more balanced approach to field development.
Expanding geological exploration work at Juliet is a logical step to strengthen the position of Northern Mines in the region. The implementation of this program can significantly increase industrial reserves of precious metals and ensure stable operation of the mine for many years to come.
