Rosgeo’s subsidiary, Urangeo JSC, conducts search for gold and silver on the Terkeneiskaya promising area in the Anadyrsky district of Chukotka. Work started in 2025 as part of the federal project “Geology: Revival of a Legend.” The site is located in the Kanchalan-Amguem silver-gold ore zone, where the only primary deposit in the area, Valunistoye, has been operating for almost three decades. Its reserves are gradually depleting, and geologists are aiming to find new industrial sites nearby.
As explained by the chief geologist of Urangeo, Sergei Dzyadok, the task is to identify ore bodies of the gold-silver formation, evaluate them and confirm the predicted resources. Gold targets: 10 tons of P1 category and 20 tons of P2 category. For silver – 200 tons (P1) and 800 tons (P2). Alexey Troshin, geologist of the Magadan division of Urangeo and the responsible executor of the project, added that if successful, the new field will be only 30 km from Valunistoye – with ready-made infrastructure, which will make its development much more profitable.
In the last field season, specialists completed all planned geophysical and geochemical studies, as well as search routes. In 2026, it is necessary to study in detail the promising areas with the telling names Zubasty and Zagadochny: additional geophysics, sampling routes and mining work will be carried out. After a comprehensive analysis of all data, locations for trenching and well drilling will be determined so that confirm resources categories P1 and P2. The project is planned to be completed in 2027.
If the forecasts come true, Chukotka will receive a new gold and silver base, and the existing mine will have the prospect of extending its service life due to similar raw materials.
