Supervisory authorities suspended work at three coal enterprises in the Kemerovo region. The decision is related to the identified violations industrial safety, which created a threat to the lives of workers.
The Siberian Department of Rostekhnadzor has introduced restrictions on mining operations at the Listvyazhnaya, Berezovskaya mines and the S. D. Tikhov mine. The measures were taken based on the results of inspections that revealed serious violations of safety requirements.
At the Listvyazhnaya mine, mining operations were stopped due to deviations from the approved projects in the organization of ventilation and isolation of workings. Supervisory authorities also recorded signs of self-heating of coal in one of the areas. The enterprise is permitted to carry out only work necessary to maintain the safe condition of the facility.
At the Berezovskaya mine, the reason for the shutdown was the lack of an up-to-date and agreed plan for eliminating possible accidents. At the S. D. Tikhov mine, work was suspended after the main fan was turned off, which led to dangerous gas contamination of underground mine workings.
According to a representative of the department, the identified violations created real preconditions for emergency situations in which about a hundred people could have been injured. In total, according to the results of inspections in the region, it was recorded seven cases suspension of activities at various facilities.
The Listvyazhnaya mine has already come to the attention of regulators after a serious accident in November 2021 that killed 51 people. After a long period of downtime and measures to eliminate violations, production was resumed only in 2023.
The measures taken by Rostechnadzor are aimed at preventing accidents and ensuring safe working conditions. Work at the mines can be resumed only after all identified violations have been completely eliminated.
