Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov proposed legalizing the use of space images to monitor environmental violations. This will allow Rosprirodnadzor to more quickly identify and suppress the actions of unscrupulous subsoil users.

At a meeting with senators Artem Sheikin and Ivan Abramov, Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov discussed measures to strengthen control over subsoil users. One of the key initiatives was the proposal to give legal force to satellite images that are used to monitor the condition of rivers and other natural objects. This will allow Rosprirodnadzor to more effectively record violations of environmental legislation and promptly respond to them.

The head of the region recalled previously taken measures, such as a moratorium on the issuance of prospecting licenses for gold mining companies, which has been in effect since August 2022. This decision was made after analyzing the environmental situation in the region and made it possible to reduce the burden on natural resources.

In 2024, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Amur Region identified 22 cases of pollution of rivers and streams by subsoil users. 23 companies and 15 officials were brought to justice, and the total amount of compensation for damage exceeded 480 million rubles. The agency notes that the number of violations is decreasing due to active monitoring and a more responsible approach on the part of subsoil users.

The initiatives of the authorities of the Amur region are aimed at maintaining the ecological balance of the region. The use of modern technologies, such as satellite images, and tightening control over subsoil users will help minimize damage to nature and ensure sustainable development of the region.
