Kazakhstan will soon have access to high-speed satellite Internet Starlink. Ministry digital development and Elon Musk’s SpaceX signed an agreement that will allow residents of the country to legally connect to the network this year.
Until now, Starlink worked in Kazakhstan only in test mode, providing Internet to schools. Now, after all legal requirements have been agreed upon, the service will become available to everyone.
“We have reached agreements with Starlink. They will fulfill all the conditions of our legislation, and already this year Kazakhstanis will be able to officially connect to satellite Internet,” said Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev.
Equipment sales will begin in the third quarter of 2025. Users will be able to purchase and register terminals, which was previously impossible.
One of the main advantages of Starlink is coverage hard-to-reach areas. The technology is especially important for rural schools, hospitals, pastures and mountain villages where fiber optic lines are not possible.
High-speed Internet will improve communications, education and telemedicine in remote areas.
Starlink is a satellite internet system from SpaceX. Unlike traditional solutions, it uses low-orbit satellites (550 km), which ensures a stable connection with minimal delays.
To connect you will need:
- Compact satellite dish
- Wi-Fi router
- Mobile application for management
In 2023, the use of Starlink in Kazakhstan was prohibited, but after negotiations the project received the green light.
The launch of Starlink in Kazakhstan is an important step for the digitalization of the country. Residents of remote regions will have access to fast Internet, and businesses and government institutions will have new opportunities for development. Official sales of the equipment will begin in 2025.
