A Polyarny unmanned aerial systems (UAV) center will be opened in Yakutia, where they will begin production of drones for monitoring, cargo delivery and other tasks. The project will accelerate the development of unmanned aircraft in the Arctic and improve transport accessibility of remote areas.
In 2024, the work of the Polyarny center began in Yakutia, which will be engaged in the production and implementation of drones. UAVs are already used to monitor fires, ice conditions, search for people and deliver goods to hard-to-reach areas.
Deputy Chairman of the Government of Yakutia Anatoly Semyonov noted that in the next five years, scenarios for using drones will be developed in the region, infrastructure will be created and specialists will be trained. By 2030, Yakutia could become a center for testing and production of UAVs, which will give impetus to a new sector of the economy.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the national program “Unmanned Aircraft Systems”, designed until 2035. His goal is to form an independent civil drone industry in Russia.
The launch of the Polyarny center will strengthen the role of Yakutia in the development of UAV technologies. This will not only improve logistics in the Arctic, but will also create new jobs, as well as increase the efficiency of monitoring natural and industrial facilities.
