In July, Transbaikal State University (ZabSU) will launch the third session of the summer mining school. Participants will be 60 students in grades 7–10 from Chita and several regions of the region. The project is being implemented with the support of Norilsk Nickel.
Students will be immersed in the world of mining under the guidance of scientists engineers and students of ZabSU. The program includes research work, interactive classes and solving real production problems.
“We focus on practice,” explains project manager Tatyana Aleshkina. “The kids will work with digital resources, participate in master classes and even try themselves as engineers.”
Summer school helps teenagers:
- Get to know the profession in an informal setting
- Gain teamwork skills
- Decide on the future specialty
The project is popular: this year, schoolchildren from six districts of the Trans-Baikal Territory submitted applications.
The best students will be able to continue their studies in specialized classes or receive advantages when entering ZabSU. The organizers note that many graduates of previous years have already chosen mining as their profession.
The Summer Mining School of ZabSU is not just a camp, but an opportunity for schoolchildren to take the first step in an engineering career.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology
