Solikamsk Magnesium Plant has manufactured unique equipment for ore enrichment. The hydroseparator is aimed at increasing the efficiency of rare earth mining metals. The innovative development will make it possible to recycle raw materials that were previously considered waste.
A new hydroseparator has been created in the Urals for the enrichment of rare earth raw materials. The equipment was developed and manufactured at the Solikamsk Magnesium Plant for the Lovozero Mining and Processing Plant. Experts predict that the use of this technology will increase the extraction of valuable components by 3-5%.
The uniqueness of the new hydroseparator lies in the possibility of processing fine fractions of loparite ore. These particles had not previously been used in production and were sent to waste. The technology makes it possible to bring into circulation additional raw materials for the production of rare earth metals.
The six-meter-high equipment was developed by the enterprise’s design and engineering service. The manufacturing was carried out by specialists from the mechanical repair shop, and the anti-corrosion treatment was carried out by the repair and construction department. The hydraulic separator is already equipped with service platforms and is ready to be sent to the mining and processing plant.
Managers of both companies note the strategic importance of this project. The development of cooperation within the mining division helps strengthen Russia’s technological independence. The creation of domestically produced equipment is especially important in the context of modern economic challenges.
The introduction of a new hydraulic separator at the Lovozersky GOK is planned in the near future. This equipment has no analogues in Russia and abroad. The use of advanced developments will increase the production volumes of rare earth metals and strengthen the position of domestic industry.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
