ALROSA has developed and started testing a unique system based on artificial intelligence for accelerated discovery of new deposits diamonds. The Russian development uses neural networks to analyze geological data and significantly reduces the time for searching for promising areas.
The system is based on a language model trained on an array of information collected by the company’s geologists over more than 50 years. ALROSA digital laboratory specialists digitized this data and created an algorithm that is integrated with the corporate geographic information system. This allows you to quickly process a large volume of geological and geophysical information, speed up analysis and more accurately identify areas for further exploration.
ALROSA General Director Pavel Marinychev emphasized that the geological corps has always been the driver for the implementation of the latest technologies. The new system is already being tested, and after its completion it will be scaled to all territories being developed by the company.
The use of artificial intelligence in geological exploration is a practical tool that improves operational efficiency and optimizes resources.
ALROSA is a leading company in the exploration, production and sale of diamonds. Production is carried out in Yakutia and the Arkhangelsk region, and projects are also being implemented in Africa. For 2025, the planned production volume is 29 million carats, with the company’s mineral resource base of 1 billion carats.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
