ALROSA is considering a project for associated gold extraction. It is planned that work will be carried out on diamond deposits of the Mirny region. This will allow for more rational use of mineral resources.
The company’s specialists intend to explore extraction technology gold from enrichment products of diamond-bearing sands. The project can be implemented at the fields of the Mirny-Nyurbinsky mining and processing plant. An important preparatory stage has already been completed: ALROSA’s Vilyuisk geological exploration expedition received a positive conclusion from Rosgeoexpertiza to carry out the relevant work.
An assessment of the effectiveness of the technology is planned at enrichment plant No. 3. Engineers will have to figure out how cost-effectively it will be possible to separate gold particles from the rock remaining after diamond extraction. The potential for this project is supported by geological data. The approved reserves of the precious metal at the Gornoye and Irelyakh deposits amount to 433 kg.
The implementation of this project will allow the company to increase the complexity of subsoil use. The success of the initiative can bring additional economic benefits to ALROSA and open up new areas for development.
