Russian mining companies and Chinese drilling technology developer Taihe Shenxi have taken a step toward closer cooperation. During talks in Moscow, the parties discussed establishing production of intelligent drilling equipment in Russia, as well as cooperation with universities and mining research institutions. The Chinese company confirmed its intention to strengthen its presence in the Russian market.
The meeting was attended by Yuri Shafranik, Chairman of the Supreme Mining Council, Valery Yazev, President of the Russian Miners Association, and Wang Yihong, CEO of Taihe Shenxi. The company specializes in intelligent drilling systems and had previously announced plans to establish manufacturing operations in Russia. The latest meeting confirmed that these plans remain on the agenda.
The parties identified several promising areas for cooperation, including the supply and localization of industrial equipment, import and export projects, manufacturing partnerships, and joint technology initiatives. The Russian Miners Association is expected to act as a liaison between the Chinese manufacturer and Russian mining companies.
Yuri Shafranik presented the association as a platform for direct dialogue between Russian mining companies and international technology providers. Valery Yazev emphasized the importance of a three-way partnership between business, science, and education. Potential partners include Tyumen Industrial University, the Academy of Mining Sciences, and the Mining Engineers Corps project.
Such an alliance could combine China’s technological expertise with Russia’s mining industry knowledge and scientific capabilities. The parties agreed to continue negotiations and move toward detailed discussions of specific projects.
The talks with Taihe Shenxi could pave the way for domestic production of advanced drilling systems in Russia. If localization goes ahead, Russian mining companies would gain access to modern technologies without relying on lengthy international supply chains, while the Chinese manufacturer would secure a stable local market.
