Russian companies are increasing their intellectual potential: 9 out of 10 patent applications in oil and gas The industry is now being served by domestic developers. This data is provided by the Federal Institute of Industrial Property Rospatent.
According to the department’s report, the share of Russian residents in the total number of applications for inventions exceeds 90% in the field of oil production and 70% in the field of oil refining. This indicates significant growth: just three years ago the figure was about 80%.
Over the past three years, experts have recorded more than 1,200 applications related to technologies for drilling wells and producing drilling fluids. In the oil refining segment, over 400 applications were submitted. Moreover, since the beginning of this year alone, another 195 applications have been received for oil production and 61 for refining.
Active work on our own technologies directly contributes to import substitution. Thus, the Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Neft, Alexander Dyukov, previously noted that the company has developed 1,200 Russian analogues of basic equipment out of 1,400 required items.
Successful registration of inventions allows companies to strengthen technological independence and increase the efficiency of hydrocarbon production and processing. The growth of patent activity confirms that the domestic oil and gas industry is relying on its own scientific and engineering personnel.
