Gold producer Polyus plans to commission a crushing and screening plant (CSP) at the Chulbatkan deposit in Khabarovsk Krai by 2028. The equipment will process no less than 1,427 tonnes of ore per hour, delivering an annual throughput of approximately 10 million tonnes. This marks a key milestone in preparations for the launch of a new mining and processing plant (MPP) at the site.
According to tender documentation from Udinsk Zoloto (part of the Polyus group), the complex will operate year-round across 292 days per year. The CSP will comprise crushers, vibrating screens, feeders, several belt conveyors — including a main conveyor nearly 1.6 kilometres long — and a radial stacker. The final product size after crushing will be 2.7 millimetres, making the material suitable for subsequent heap leaching.
The Chulbatkan deposit is located 18 kilometres south of the settlement of Udinsk and holds estimated reserves of 93.4 tonnes of gold. Polyus previously announced that construction and installation work on the external power supply infrastructure at the site would be completed in 2026.
Full commissioning of the MPP at Chulbatkan is scheduled for 2029, with a processing capacity of up to 10 million tonnes of ore per year. The new CSP will thus serve as the core component of the first processing stage.
For Polyus, the development of Chulbatkan is one of its major investment projects in Khabarovsk Krai. Bringing the complex online will allow the company to increase gold production and create new jobs in the region.
