JSC Polyus Verninskoye, part of the group of the largest Russian gold miner Polyus received a license to develop the Kuduskitskaya area deposit in the Bodaibinsky district. Plot area 54 sq. km contains significant reserves of the precious metal.

On August 5, an electronic auction was held, where Polyus Verninskoye offered 72.2 million rubles for the right to develop the site at a starting price of 65.6 million. The license was issued for 25 years. Estimated geologists, gold reserves here are 16.3 tons in the P1 category and 2.8 tons in the P2 category with an average content of 1.14 grams per ton of ore.

The Bodaibinsky district remains the center of gold mining in the Angara region. In the first seven months of 2025, district enterprises produced 10.8 tons gold – 11.8% more than for the same period in 2024. The growth was driven by both ore deposits (+15.5%) and placers (+2.3%).

Verninsky Mining and Processing Plant, operating since 2001, processes up to 3.9 million tons of ore annually. The company stands out for its high gold recovery rate – 90%, which exceeds the industry average.

Against the background of rising gold prices and the weakening of the ruble, Polyus shares reached a record 2011 rubles on July 29, adding 40% since the beginning of the year. This is due to the company’s plans to expand production and expected dividends.

The development of the Kuduskitskaya area will strengthen Polyus’ position as an industry leader and increase production volumes in the Irkutsk region. The project will create new jobs and replenish the region’s budget.

Experts note that the development of new deposits with high gold content supports the competitiveness of Russian gold mining in the world market.
