On November 10, the XXIII international conference dedicated to modern methods of remote sensing of the Earth and technologies for analyzing data from space began at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The scientific event brings together leading specialists from Russia and foreign countries working in the field of satellite monitoring of natural and man-made processes. The conference will last until November 14 and will end with a meeting at the Scientific Center for Operational Earth Monitoring of the Russian Space Systems company.
This year, more than 850 scientists, engineers and representatives of specialized organizations took part in the conference. The program includes over 570 reports devoted to the development of domestic satellite technologies, automated observation systems and applications artificial intelligence in space data processing.
At the opening ceremony, the participants were greeted by the director of the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Anatoly Petrukovich, representatives of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Space Systems company. They emphasized that the conference has become one of the central platforms for the exchange of experience and coordination of scientific research in the field of Earth monitoring.
Before the start of the forum, a traditional school-conference for young researchers was held, where machine learning algorithms used in processing satellite images were discussed. Young specialists presented work on climate change analysis, water monitoring and natural risk forecasting.
The main program of the conference includes thematic sections, plenary sessions and joint events with the Scientific Center OMZ JSC Russian Space Systems. On November 12, a special session was held dedicated to the creation of instruments and digital platforms for satellite monitoring of the state of the environment.
The forum is held in a mixed format: scientists participate both in person and online, which allows researchers from different countries to join the discussions. The organizers note that the results of the conference will become the basis for developing new directions in the development of remote sensing technologies and expanding international scientific cooperation.
