In Yakutia, they are creating a comprehensive system for training specialists for geological exploration and mining industry. This initiative will become part of the large-scale federal project “Geology. Revival of a legend,” as reported by the Minister of Industry and Geology of the Republic Maxim Tereshchenko.
The decision was announced at the II Far Eastern Subsoil Use Forum, where a series of important agreements were concluded. Universities, technical schools and research centers began partnerships with leading industrial companies. For example, North-Eastern Federal university will cooperate with Nordgold, and the Yakut Industrial College will cooperate with Sakhatransneftegaz. This will allow students to immediately work with real-life enterprise problems.
Particular attention is paid to early career guidance. The republic already has a geological education center based at the gymnasium. Now kindergartens are joining the program, where children are introduced to the world of minerals and professions in a playful way. This approach helps to develop an interest in the industry from school.
To combine all stages of training, the Ministry of Industrial Geology of Yakutia proposed creating an integrated geological cluster in Yakutsk. This will be a single platform that will connect the training of workers, technicians, engineers and scientists. The cluster will provide a continuous educational path from kindergarten to production.
The new personnel training system will solve the problem of the shortage of qualified geologists and miners in the region. It directly meets the needs of the growing industry and will open promising career opportunities for the youth of Yakutia in their republic.
