On the eve of the New Year, the Severalmaza processing plant in the Arkhangelsk region produced two unusually shaped diamonds. The stones resembled Christmas decorations and became a continuation of a series of rare finds at the M.V. Lomonosov deposit.
The first diamond weighs about 17 carats and resembles a classic Christmas ball. The second stone, weighing 2.7 carats, looks like a figurine of a puppy. Such finds are considered rare and are highly valued not only in the jewelry industry, but also in the scientific community.
Deposit named after M.V. Lomonosov has long been known unusual diamond shapes. At the beginning of 2024, a crystal resembling a miniature Christmas tree was already found here. Now, as geologists joke, they continue to “dress it up” with unique natural “toys.”
According to the chief geologist of Severalmaz, Ilya Zezin, diamonds in this area are distinguished by their rounded shapes and a large number of facets, which makes them noticeable against the background of other Russian and world deposits.
Other famous crystals have been found here before. Among them diamond “Cloudberry” weighing 38 carats, as well as a butterfly stone weighing almost 40 carats. In August 2025, the collection of rare forms was replenished with the “Bantik” diamond weighing 2.94 carats.
Such finds highlight not only the industrial value Arkhangelsk field, but also its aesthetic uniqueness. For ALROSA, this is an important factor in reputation and interest on the part of the global diamond market.
New Year’s diamonds of unusual shape became a symbolic find of the end of the year and once again confirmed the status of the Lomonosov deposit as one of the most interesting diamond objects in Russia.
May the coming year, like these unique diamonds, be bright, beautiful and full of pleasant surprises! Happy New Year 2026!
