Bolivia continues to strengthen its position in the global lithium market. According to the latest data, proven reserves This critical metal in the country reached 23 million tons – 2 million tons more than previously estimated. This statement was made by Bolivian President Luis Alberto Arce Catacora.
To develop the lithium industry, Bolivia is actively attracting foreign partners. The state-owned YLB (Bolivian Lithium Deposits) signed agreements with Chinese corporations and the Russian Rosatom for a total of $2.8 billion. These projects will not only increase prey but also to create processing industries.
- The Catl Brunp & Cmoc (CBC) consortium will build two lithium plants using direct extraction (EDL) technology in the Uyuni and Coipasa salt flats.
- Citic Guoan Group will invest $857 million to set up a battery plant and electric vehicle assembly plant.
- Rosatom’s subsidiary Uranium One Group is implementing a project to produce lithium carbonate. The capacity of the complex will be 25 thousand tons per year with the possibility of expansion. Investments are estimated at $600 million.
