Scientists from the Belgorod State Technological University named after V. G. Shukhov presented two developments aimed at reducing the environmental load. We are talking about rapidly degradable bioplastics and intelligent system geoecological monitoring.

The university reported the creation of a new bioplastic that decomposes in the natural environment within 20–90 days. It is based on polylactic acid and a vegetable filler made from processed flax stalks. The material breaks down into water and carbon dioxide and does not accumulate in the environment like traditional plastic.

The developers note that the use of plant filler made it possible to increase the physical and mechanical properties by approximately 30% and reduce the sensitivity of the material to moisture. This expands the applications of bioplastics. It can be used for packaging, building materials, household products and 3D printing consumables. Production is planned to be located in the Belgorod region.

In parallel, a smart geoecological monitoring system has been created at BSTU. It is designed to monitor the state of air, water and soil and is distinguished by its ability to automatically adjust to external conditions. The system optimizes data transmission, reduces information loss and maintains stable operation even when there is interference or overload of communication channels.

The development is based on an adaptive sensor network that independently regulates data transmission routes and sensor operation. Unlike existing solutions, the program is designed as a ready-made tool with a user-friendly interface and does not require programming skills. This allows you to quickly implement it into projects without lengthy setup.

The new system can be used in the design of environmental monitoring networks for industrial enterprises, the agro-industrial sector and urban infrastructure. It will also be useful to researchers who study wireless sensor networks and applications artificial intelligence in ecology.

Rapidly degradable bioplastics reduce the volume of difficult-to-dispose waste, and an intelligent monitoring system helps more accurately control the state of the environment. Together they form a practical technological basis for ecologically oriented projects.
