Bystrinsky Mining and Processing Plant (part of the Norilsk Nickel group) begins to use virtual reality for training employees safety rules. The first courses for slingers using VR equipment will start in September.
The new system creates a realistic digital environment where workers practice skills without risk to health. Virtual simulators allow you to simulate various production operations: correct securing of loads, calculation of loads and balancing. This helps to avoid emergency situations in real conditions.
Industrial safety training through VR technology is carried out using three mobile systems. Each includes a virtual reality headset, controllers and a motion tracking system. The platform accurately reproduces production areas and object physics.
According to Zhanna Zaigraeva, leading specialist in the methodology and audit department, such training formats correspond to the enterprise’s technological development strategy. They make it possible to improve the quality of personnel training and reduce the level of injuries.
In the future, the company plans to expand the use of VR technologies for training gas welders and fire safety specialists.
The material was prepared with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as part of the Decade of Science and Technology.
